Well I don't know of her going into a dug out but I do know that her husband/ex-husband did go into a dug out and start a big fight in little league because they thought their son wasn't getting to pitch enough.. when in reality he pitched every inning he was eligible to pitch! Maybe you just don't know her as well as you think!
It is who you think and you are exactly right!

She couldn't know the person any better considering it's her.
I think everyone has had bench time at some point in sports they've played..bench time is good for the soul..
"Bench time is good for the soul." Now that is a great quote on perspective! Just think about all the possibilities that are involved with this statement. I'm not good enough and I need to work harder and get better. I'm not good enough and even though I may not play as much as I'd like to, I'm still a part of the team. I'm not good enough, no matter how much I work and try, so maybe I should try something else. These are just three of the possibilities that I asked myself when confronted with bench time when I was a youth. I wasn't mature enough to appreciate the fact that there were kids who would have loved to have been in my bench position. No kid is, in my opinion. How many bench warmers are fan favorites because of the obvious love and zeal they have for the game they get to play so infrequently? How many stories have we all heard about the underdog player who is given the chance to play and makes it their shining moment? It ain't all about the PT and the trophies that go along with the moment. It's about the lessons that help shape young people into more capable and responsible citizens. Thanks mk3supra!
If this persons child plays for PVHS, I really don't know how she could complain right now.
LPD Champions in Track, Boys, Basketball, and Softball
Regional Berths in Track, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Softball, and Football.
Is there another school in the LPD who has that going for them? Norton, maybe? Seems to me like the coaches at PVHS are doing a pretty darn good job. If I remember correctly Volleyball and Baseball were just a game away from reaching the regional level as well.
You obviously don't Chandler_91!
Oh my God, that is the saddest letter I have read in a long time. For shame that you wrote such crap. Everybody thinks that there kids deserve more time and yes, there are probably some kids who do deserve more time than they get. That being said, there are some parents who are freaking delusional. They think that there child is a lot more talented than they are. They notice the good thing that there child does but not the 20 bad things they do. They see their child do something good 'individually' but not realize that in doing so it made the rest of the 'team' be out of position, or try to cover a gap left by their beloved superstar.
Thank God for the parents who appreciate the time and the effort that the coaches put in. It's sad that there aren't more parents who just appreciate their children being on the team and the coaches continuing to work with them, help them and also in some cases, keep them from getting injured by being in there when they shouldn't. I know for a fact that some parents have yelled about their kids being in there, and when there kids get into a game, everybody associated, except for the parent, is scared to death that the kid is going to get injured seriously because they do not have the ability to play at the level. It's also common knowledge that the people who complain and have these views of self grandness, would be the first ones to go sue happy if their precious little 'talent' was injured.
Go to a typical basketball game and watch a blowout, watch when the last kid off the bench comes in the game. Everybody cheers for that kid, because they want to see them contribute, but does anybody ever think wow that kid should really have been in there all the time or at least equal?
We talk about fairness, what is fair? Is it fair to mislead kids and make them think they are better than they are? Is it fair to punish kids who are good and work hard as well? One of the most painful things I can recall was hearing a kid talk about going to play college ball, the kid being inflated by its parents that there were offers coming in, when the kid couldn't play anything really. Was that fair? It's great to tell everybody that you're going to be an all-star, you're going to be rich, you're going to marry a model, etc but is it fair to inflate them? In little league, sure, you motivate a kid, you tell them if they keep working, if they keep practicing, that they will get better, that they will become a good player, but as kids get older, you also have to teach kids that sometimes you just can't do what you want. There is nothing I would love better than to go play outfield for the Red Sox, and in little league it was great to keep a kids hopes and dreams up, but to keep inflating them when they get older, is a lot more cruel than not giving them that fair share of time. Then we wonder why we have kids who think that certain jobs are 'beneath' them, why they just can't have that little used car, it's below their status. It's the attitude that this letter showed, life isn't fair, get over it, and get over yourself. Trust me, if your kid has this great work ethic, if they use it and don't get drug down by a parent whining about fairness, then they will succeed in some other manner. Maybe you should worry about that more.
I am Ms. Henry! I don't need to pretend to be someone else. I don't know who sportsfan99 is, or what their purpose is. I received a phone call about this forum yesterday and decided to check it out. For those of you that don't know me, I have a few things to say. First of all, I don't know why you think this is all about my son and PVHS. My youngest son isn't even in high school yet, my oldest is in college and works, and my daughter is a sophmore at PV and works serving food rather than playing sports. All three have that second hand car in which they have worked for. I have not chosen what my childen decide to participate in. They are their own person. My oldest participated in alot of activities in school including drama, tennis, track, school mascot and church. My youngest loves sports of all kinds. He loves to play baseball, football, basketball, golf, riding his dirt bike, and playing his guitar. He is very much enjoying his last year playing Junior League and having a great year. My daughter likes working, drawing, and shopping. She played in little league, was a p-nut cheerleader and took gymnastic and decided she wasn't into it. As far as work and school, my childen make good grades and know that if they don't, they can't do the extra curricular things that they enjoy. They do have morals and values. I don't believe my children are the best at what they do. There is always room for improvement. However they do work hard at what they do and have manners and respect for others. I am not trying to live a dream of mine through them. I do feel that there is alot of politics in sports and that a name does make a difference. If a child isn't going to be worked with or given play time, why not just cut them from tryouts. There are many children with talent who do not get to play. If you read the code of ethics for high school sports you will find that alot of things in the letter come from it. And I hate to disappoint you all, but I am not a suing or disability check drawing kind of person. I work for what I have and do not want anyting handed to me or my children.
And by the way pvhsfan (Chandler) If you don't quite remember correctly I belive you instigated the whole dugout scene. When you tried to coach your husbands team instead of letting him coach it himself. That was 3-4 years ago. If you want to dig up a buried hatchet, we can.
